PARAPROSDOKIANS

by Sigrid Weidenweber 9. February 2012 16:26

Here are more Paraprosdokians. I admit to having copied them. Although I plagiarized I will share them anyway, for they are cute.

(Winston Churchill loved them) they are figures of speech in which the latter part of a sentence or phrase is surprising or unexpected; frequently humorous.

1. Where there's a will, I want to be in it.

2. The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But it's still on my list.

3. Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

4. If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

5. We never really grow up; we only learn how to act in public.

6. War does not determine who is right - only who is left.

7. Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

8. They begin the evening news with 'Good Evening,' then proceed to tell you why it isn't.

9. To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism. To steal from many is research.

10. Buses stop in bus stations. Trains stop in train stations. On my desk is a work station.

1. I thought I wanted a career. Turns out I just wanted paychecks.

12. In filling out an application, where it says, 'In case of emergency, notify:' I put 'DOCTOR.'

13. I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

14. Women will never be equal to men until they can walk down the street with a bald head and a beer gut, and still think they are sexy.

15. Behind every successful man is his woman. Behind the fall of a successful man is usually another woman.

16. A clear conscience is the sign of a fuzzy memory.

17. You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

18. Money can't buy happiness, but it sure makes misery easier to live with.

19. There's a fine line between cuddling and holding someone down so they can't get away.

20. I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

21. You're never too old to learn something stupid.

22. To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.

23. Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

24. Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

25. Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

26. Where there's a will, there are relatives.

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It's very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like 'Mixview' that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you're listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of "neighbors" will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune "Social" is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

If you're still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you'll know which is right for you.

I am a student at a top 5 law school. This book does not outline a specific system for taking exams, so if that is what you are looking for, look else where. What this book does provide is a good overview of the different types of gray areas that appear time and time again on exams. This will help you "spot the issues" and give you a feel for the kind of stuff your profs want to see written about come exam time. There are also plenty of general exam taking tips that area helpful. I have read many exam taking books, and this is the best of them. Read it early in the semester. It will help you focus on the important stuff in class and in the reading.

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod's. It works well, but isn't as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that's not an issue, but if you're planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod's larger screen and better browser may be important.

I'll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass' favor.

The Loan Mods should be done by a real estate broker period. It is quite simple in California the upfront money goes into a trust. After services are rendered then they get paid. 25% for consultation, 75% when loan mod is complete. I believe it should be 25% initial consultation, 25 loan preparation 50% when loan is complete. I am sorry people an attorney doing a loan mod is an attorney who can't find any other work. We are the people who talk to the banks. We are the people who are going to get them a short-sale if the loan mod gets rejected. If you want a loan mod use a reliable broker. P.S Reginaldo if you can't afford your neg am you can't afford a loan mod, if an attorney says you can well you just lost your retainer fee. Benny

This is the beginning of my Internet Life. I have reitred from the grind. I am reading blogs on many topics, and commenting too. I don't understand everything that is in all the blogs that I read, but I like your presentation here in this blog. Well you know I have my own blog and website now. It is fun, to be sure. I put my site and email in the allocated spaces. I hope you approve that I did this. It seems to be customary so I went ahead with it. TheVeryBest2You 13 9

I am taking the Internet seriously now. I am retired and can dive into it. There is quite a rich diversity of information in blogs so I am getting involved and commenting. I don't understand everything that is in all the blogs that I read, but I like your presentation here in this blog. I have started my own blog and website. There was a place to include an email and address, so I have done that. Is this acceptable? I hope this is allright. TheVeryBest2You 13 9

Between me and my husband we've owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I've settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

Project 5am is about capturing and following the essence of being in the moment. It an site which falls on various levels. It can be viewed as a celebration of creativity or as a 2 year old diary of exploring a moment of enlightenment. The cryptic aspect of the site reflects the Allen Ginsberg poem 5am that it was inspired from and the mystic of the people, stories and philosophies that I have encountered on my journey. The aim is for the reader to connect with references that are on the site and put into there own context because questions answers life. 5am is an eternal project that has given me so much joy, growth and knowledge and I hope that it gives people the same yellow feeling like it has given me...come drink live.

I'll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod;. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

Sorry for the huge review, but I'm really loving the new Zune, and hope this, as well as the excellent reviews some other people have written, will help you decide if it's the right choice for you.

She needs to stick to what she knows best, slutting it up in front of the camera. The market is oversaturated with pointless products which are a joke to major players such as Patron, Don Julio, Cazadores and others who own their deserved marketshare in the industry. I doubt Diosa will duplicate the success Sammy Hagar had with CaboWabo but I digress as we'll end up seeing Diosa on the discount shelf in the near future. I feel sorry for her investors as they stand to lose their investment (hopefully they got a bj out of it).

Yet still it’s an issue to be able to retain in view. My partner and i trust which it can aid and also always keep in the very best top quality creating.

I drop a comment each time I appreciate a post on a website or I have something to add to the conversation. Usually it's caused by the passion communicated in the article I looked at. And after this article Sig's Blog | PARAPROSDOKIANS. I was actually excited enough to drop a thought ;) I do have a couple of questions for you if it's okay. Is it simply me or does it appear like a few of these comments look like left by brain dead folks? :-P And, if you are posting on other places, I would like to keep up with you. Would you make a list the complete urls of your public pages like your twitter feed, Facebook page or linkedin profile?

I can't believe real rock music is so often snubbed by the music "elite". That somebody would even think Adele is worthy of running against the Foo Fighters for Album of the Year is astounding, if not ridiculous to consider. The fact that Wasting Light was recorded in Dave Grohl's garage, using ANALOG equipment is enough to put it ahead of anything else nominated, but music execs. obviously don't care about that. Electronically produced music and voice is quickly becoming the breadwinner with today's audiences, and that's just what the execs want.

Hands down, Apple's app store wins by a mile. It's a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I'm not sure I'd want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

Why does she feel the need to apologize to Apple? Is she afraid they won't send her anymore free stuff or something? You would think they had better things to do than respond to something that is obviously parody.

If you're still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you'll know which is right for you.

This was a catostrophic overspeed of the water turbine. They or someone authorized a overspeed test of the water turbine, and they circumvented the safety features of the turbine to attain an over speed. The problem is the safety was exceeded and the turbine got more than it could handle and you can see for yourself. Tons of turbine wheen penetrating the shell followed by million of gallons of uncontrolled water following the hole left by the existed water turbine.
Goes to show what can happen when you don't plan better on testing of equipment, and shave responsibility off of the operators. Management probably forced the operators to circumvent the control switches and other features to protect the equipment and you can see the end result.

Don't bring your need to the marketplace, bring your skill. If you don't feel well, tell your doctor, but not the marketplace. If you need money, go to the bank, but not the marketplace. Jim Rohn

About the author

Born in Germany in 1941, Sigrid Weidenwber remembers the horrific aftermath of fascism. At the end of the war, she found herself living under communism. Both of these totalitarian regimes left indelible marks on her psyche and a healthy distrust of govenment"s, ursurping too many powers to control people, supposedly for their own good. After the Berlin Wall was built, she managed to escape the repressive environment with the help of friends and a French passport. To this day she does not speak French.

She holds degrees in medical technology, psychology and an Honorary Doctor of Letters from Concordia University of Portland, Oregon for her trilogy "The Volga Flows Forever."

Her first published book, Escaping the Twilight, deals with aspects of medical anthropology in an Islamic culture. In her trilogy the Volga Flows Forever, she brings to life Catherine the Great in her multiple roles as monarch, woman--lover, mother, grandmother and head of the general staff of the army, in Volume one. The following two historical volumes deal with the Volga Germans brought to Russia by Catherine's edict. The last book of the trilogy, "From gulag to Freedom," deals with the systematic eradication of the Russia's minorities, in particular the Russian Germans. The heroine of the book escapes death in the gulag, fleeing to Fresno, California.

Three years ago she moved to Santa Rosa Valley, California from Portland Oregon. She has passionately embraced California together with her family that also resides here.

She lectures on anthropological and historical subjects and actively supports the arts.

At present she she writes a memoire of her childhood during WW II an her youth under the German communistic regime.
